I keep getting this message pop up, including right after rebooting and attempting to &quot;Install&quot; from the Update Manager.  It ran OK last night do install updates, but the system notifier popped up this morning with more updates; thats when this message began:

&quot;Another application seems to be using the package system at this time. You must close all other package managers before you will be able to install or remove any packages.&quot;]]></description>
